Effervescent mixture, in particular for effervescent tablets, having at least one solid, crystalline, organic acid and at least one carbonate eliminating CO2 on reaction with the organic acid, characterised in that the acid crystals are provided with a calcium carbonate-containing coating, which adheres to the surface of the crystals by means of a binding layer formed by a reaction of the calcium carbonate-containing coating material with a surface layer of the particular acid crystal, effervescent tablet produced with the use thereof and process for the production thereof.
