<p>Excavating equipment for excavating rock or mineral from a working face to extend an underground tunnel or roadway comprises an excavating machine (1) advanceable along the tunnel or roadway and having a cutter (2) for excavating rock or mineral from the working face, and a floor mounted shield assembly (3) extending over at least a portion of the mining machine. Releasable connector means e.g. a latch mechanism are provided for connecting the machine to the shield assembly such that, in operation, the shield assembly is advanceable with the machine. <IMAGE></p> |
