<p>The nozzle comprises a base piece fixed to the bottom of the vessel and inner and outer sliding gates. The inner gate comprises a ceramic base plate with several nozzle openings, a support casing, a frame surrounding the casing, a first bearing block for rotatably mounting the casing in the frame so that the base plate can be turned by hand at the same time as the casing when the inner gate is open, and a first hinge for joining the frame to the base piece. The outer gate comprises a ceramic slide plate which cooperates with the ceramic base plate, a rotor confining the slide plate to prevent relative rotation and provided with a toothed outer rim, a frame for supporting the rotor for rotation by means of a second bearing block, a pressure mechanism positioned in the frame and exerting force on the lower surface of the rotor to press the slide plate against the ceramic base plate, and a second hinge for joining the frame to the base piece. The nozzle is useful for molten steel-contg. vessels such as ladles and tundishes. Change-over to different nozzle openings is facilitated; nozzle opening and closing is simple and safe; the relative positions of the nozzle plates can be finely controlled; and the nozzle can be easily and rapidly replaced as a unit.</p> |
