<p>(A) Cpds. of the general formula (I):- where R' and R3 = H, halogen, (1-4C) alkyl opt. substd. by halogen, (1-4C) alkoxy or (1-4C) alkylthio, NO2, or CN; R2 = H or F in the 2', 3', 5' or 6' posn. R = (where R4 is H or (1-4C) alkyl) or A-X (where A is C(=CH2), (CH2)2-9, CO(CH2)1-8,) and CHR5 where R5 is H, (1-4C) alkyl (opt. halogen substd.), (2-4C) alkenyl, (3 or 4C) alkynyl, (1-4C) alkoxy or halogen, and X is COOR4, COOH.B (B is an organic base), COOM (M is NH4 or cation), CH2OH, CONR6R7, and CH2NR6R7 where R6 and R7, same or different, are H,(1-4C) alkyl, or together with the N form a heterocyclic ring. R', R2 and R3 are all H only when R is A-X and A is (CH2)4-9,CO(CH2)1-8, or C(=CH2), or when R5 is haloalkyl R is not CH2CO2H when R1 and R2 are H, and R3 is 3-CH3 or when R1 is other than H at 4'-posn. (B) Acid addn. salts of (I) (C) Pharmaceutical compositions contng. (I). Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic agents. Some cpds. substd. at 3- and 2-inhibit bronchospasms. Less toxic, more stable, and more water sol. than aspirin.</p> |
