<p>An electrical storage heater comprising a heat store (13), electrical heating means (R1) for heating same, and a charging circuit including charge control means having contact (S2) for regulating the flow of current to the heating means (R1) during an off- peak charging period, and an operating means for the contacts (S2) including a heat sensing element (35) connected to an output element (37a), and wherein the heat sensing element (35) is so sited as to be heated partly by air flowing at (29) into the heater from the space to be heated and partly electrical by heat transmitted from the store (13) through its covering (20). Compensating means such as a bimetal domed disc (37b) is provided to compensate for variations in temperature to which the output element (37a) and switch (S2) may be subjected in consequence of heat leak from the store (13) or these components may be sited at a cool constant temperature location. <IMAGE></p> |
