PURPOSE:To decrease crosstalk by providing a required number of the 1st-3rd optical waveguide groups on a substrate in such a way that the 3rd optical waveguide forms an optical switch with one of the 1st optical waveguides at one end and with one of the 2nd optical waveguides at the other end. CONSTITUTION:The 1st-3rd optical waveguide groups 11, 12; 13, 14; 15-18 are installed on a dielectric or semiconductor substrate 1. Optical switches 51 and 53, 62 and 63, 71 and 74, 82 and 84 of directional coupling type are constituted between both ends of the optical waveguide 15 and the optical waveguides 11, 13, between both ends of 16 and 12, 13, between both ends of 17 and 11, 14, and between both ends of 18 and 12, 14. The optical switches are so driven that voltage is simultaneously impressed on these paired switches by which the matrix photoswitch having low corsstalk is obtd. |
