WASTE WATER TREATMENT APPARATUS

摘要

Water is treated by flowing through a tank carrying a rotary biological contactor. The contactor comprises a hollow horizontal shaft which carries multiple plastic passages which are alternately filled and purged of water as the contactor rotates. The shaft provides buoyancy for the contactor although the shaft remains submerged. The ends of the shaft are received by mechanical supports which stabilise the shaft while minimising its tendency to flex. The shaft is rotated by a motor which contacts a gear supported by the shaft and projecting above the liq. surface.
