CUTTING METHOD OF METALLIC WIRE

PURPOSE:To cut satisfactorily a twisted metallic wire without collapsion of the cut face and elongation by clamping the wire by electrodes having the space narrower than the diameter of the twisted wire with the point to be cut as a center and heating electrically the wire then detaching the two electrodes after attaching said electrodes to each other. CONSTITUTION:A twisted metallic wire is clampled by electrodes having the space narrower than the diameter of the twisted wire with the point to be cut as a center in a way as to avoid generation of buckling. The wire is electrically heated and when the wire is nearly melted, the two electrodes are attached to each other by means of a screw or piston to crush the molten part and in succession the electrodes are detached to cut the wire. The twisted wire is satisfactorily cut without entanglement of the cut face and without elongation by detaching. No spark is generated in the stage of detaching if the electrodes are de-energized.
