PURPOSE:To improve the assembling performance of a magnetic disk device without giving any damage to both a magnetic recording disk and a magnetic head, by using a drive mechanism which can move freely the magnetic head even in the direction vertical to the magnetic recording disk. CONSTITUTION:A shape memory alloy body 7 is attached to a head suspension 3. When a current is supplied to a lead wire 8, the body 7 is heated up and changes its own shape. As a result, the suspension 3 also changes its shape to decrease the distance between a pair of upper and lower magnetic heads 2. Under such conditions, an actuator 5 is moved toward an arrow head and the heads 2 are put between magnetic recording disks 1. Then the current flowing to the wire 8 is reduced gradually. Thus the body 7 loses its own shape deforming power and has deformation in an opposite direction by the spring power of the suspension 3. Therefore each head 2 can have the stable landing on the disk 1. |
