In the case of highly stressed blades of turbomachines, the operational reliability can be impaired by, eg. resonant vibrations and flutter vibrations. In order to investigate the vibration response, it is desired to represent the amplitude of these vibrations (16) as a function of one parameter, e.g. the speed (n) of the rotor, for all blades of a row of blades simultaneously on an image memory/monitor (14). For this purpose, a staircase signal (S12), to which an angular difference signal (S DELTA phi ) which characterises the amplitude of the blade vibration is added, is generated as a function of the speed (n) of the rotor and of the sequence of the blades. This modified staircase signal (S13) is fed to the vertical deflection (y) of the image memory/monitor (14). The horizontal deflection of the monitor is freely available. <IMAGE>
