PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium with which a tracking groove can be formed easily on the surface of thin recording layer, by forming a recording layer which can record and reproduce electrically information via a conductive head on a substrate where the tracking groove is previously formed for driving the conductive head along a recording track. CONSTITUTION:In a record mode of information, a contact is secured between a tracking groove 8 on an information recording medium 1 and the tip of a conductive head 10 which is produced by coating a thin conductive layer 12 to the side surface of a stylus-shaped electrode supporting substrate 11 made of a dielectric substance. Then the medium 1 is revolved to give the relative drive to the head 10 along a recording track by the guide of the groove 8. The positive or negative impulsive voltage of several tens V corresponding to the information signal to be recorded is applied to the layer 12 of the head 10. Thus the impulsive voltage is trapped at a trap level existing near the interface between the 1st and 2nd insulated films 6 and 7 or discharged. In other words, a hysteresis phenomenon produced by the charge/discharge of electric charge is used to record information in the form of the storage of electric charge. |
