发明名称 GAP WIDTH MEASURING METHOD OF MAGNETIC HEAD
摘要 PURPOSE:To measure the gap width of a sample head by making use of the edge effect of a magnetic flux to read the leakage magnetic flux of an artificial head with a magnetic head and obtaining the maximum output value from the read output of said leakage magnetic flux and the variable distance of the gap width of the artificial head. CONSTITUTION:A signal generation drive circuit 5 is connected to a coil 4 of an artificial head 1 having a gap 2. The gap 2 is reinforced with a nonmagnetic reinforcing member 6, and micrometers 7 are set at both ends of the member 6 to vary the width of the gap 2. In addition, a reflector 9 of a laser measurement device 8 is attached at the end face of the member 6. A contact is secured between the surfaces of the member 6 and a sample head 10. In this case, the width of the gap 2 is set larger than that of a gap 11 of the head 10. A contact is secured between the surfaces of both heads 1 and 10. A magnetic signal is always applied to the head 1 to move an edge G1, and the device 8 detects a position X1 of the G1 where the output signal of a coil 12 is maximum. Then an edge G2 is shifted in the direction (x) to detect a position X2 where signal outputs of both ends of the coil 12 are maximum. Thus the gap width of the head 10 is obtained from ¦x1-x2¦.
