PURPOSE:To check simply a fault under a completed state of a head arm by forming a gap of a magnetic head to be checked almost at the center of a leakage magnetic field of an AC magnetic field generator and checking the head by an induced magnetic flux after putting the head close to the upper part of the AC magnetic field generator. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a slider 11 of a magnetic head 7 to be checked and containing a completed head arm is put close with no gap to an AC magnetic field generator 12 which produces an even magnetic field having a large gap. The rear part of the slider 11 is placed to abut to a stopper 16 for positioning. Thus a gap 8 of the head 7 is positioned approximately at the center of a leakage magnetic field 17 of a large gap 13 of the generator 12. The positioning is performed by a stopper 18 for the width direction of the head 7. A reproduction output is obtained in a coil 9 by the magnetic flux induced at the small gap 8 of the head 7 produced by the magnetic field 17 of the generator 12. This reproduction output is inspected according to the inspection specifications, and a fault is checked. |
