Sand core with ventilation channels

The cores are formed of compressed sand. A structure of foamed material which decomposes at a temp. below the calcination temp. of the core sand is placed at the location where a channel is to be formed. The core is then calcined. Spec. the foamed structure consists of polystyrene or polyurethane.
