PURPOSE:To obtain the title neutral and soluble surfactant with less toxicity and irritating property by acylating the side-chain amine group of collagen or gelatin with a 2-26 C fatty acid and a 2-8 C dicarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A fatty acid anhydride is added to a collagen or gelatin soln. to acylate the collagen or gelatin (about 5-40% acylation rate). A 2-26 C fatty acid is used and propionic acid, heptanic acid and myristic acid are preferably used. Then the material is acylated (about 60-95% acylation rate) by using a 2-8 C dicarboxylic acid anhydride. Succinic acid is preferably used as the dicarboxylic acid. The material is made lipophilic by the acylation with the fatty acid and made water-soluble in the neutral region by the acylation with the dicarboxylic acid. Acccordingly, the obtained surfactant can be utilized in the various fields of cosmetics, food, etc., which are mostly used in the neutral region. |
