A headbox for a paper machine includes a distributor beam part communicating with a distribution part and a turbulence part followed by a slice part. The turbulence part is constituted by a turbulence generator member in which a plurality of flow bores are formed, the outlet mouths of the flow bores opening into flow slots formed in the turbulence generator and wherein a central plane of each flow slot forms an angle with the axes of the flow bores, the magnitude of the angle being in the range of about 5 DEG to 45 DEG . The headbox may also include an equalizing chamber in which a pulp suspension is adapted to flow in an upwardly slanted flow direction and in this case the axes of the flow bores form a declining angle with the flow direction in the equalizing chamber, which declining angle is in the range of about 5 DEG to 15 DEG .
