A feed concentrate in granulate form for ruminants is prepared by mixing and heating at 70 DEG to 95 DEG C carbamide, a soluble phosphorus compound, preferably monoammonium phosphate, and calcined kieserite (anhydrous magnesium sulphate) as well as mineral trace nutrients with the addition prior to or during the heating of an anti-caking agent, preferably perlite; the mixture is kept in movement for a sufficient period of time to render it cohesive, optionally while adding further amounts of anti-caking agent, after which it is cooled. There is obtained a uniformly composed granulate which - in contradistinction to a granulate prepared at a lower temperature and/or without an anti-caking agent and/or with magnesium sulphate heptahydrate - is storage and transport stable at temperatures up to about 60 DEG C. |
