Controlling formation deposition of scale in aq. systems - by adding sulphonated styrene maleic anhydride copolymer or one of its water soluble salts

Method, partic. useful against calcium phosphate, scale on the structural parts of a system contg. an aq. medium having a content of calcium and phosphate ions, is by introducing a sulphonated styrene/mallic anhydride copolymer (molar ratio =2-4/1, esp. 3/1), or one of its water soluble salts. Better control of the formation/deposition of calcium phosphate than known agents. Can be used in most aqueous medin in a wide range of systems. Also controsl deposition of magnesium phosphate, iron oxides, magnesium silicates, calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate and sludges.
