The flat pole of an accumulator is intended to be formed so that it can be used reversibly as a round pole. The round pole should enable a round pole terminal to be perfectly fastened, should be simple to assemble, ensure good contact, be robust, and be simple to manufacture. The adapter (1) consists of lead or a lead alloy, in one piece, and has a foot ring (3), the free diameter of which is adapted to the greatest breadth of the flat pole, so that the foot ring (3) can be plugged entirely over the flat pole. One cylinder segment (5) each is fixed to the foot ring (3) via bridges (4), and said segments are arranged opposite each other with a gap (6), which corresponds to the thickness of the flat pole.
