1,270,325. Magnetic bearing. M. BAERMANN. 8 Aug., 1969 [10 Aug., 1968; 28 Sept., 1968], No. 39713/69. Heading F2A. A magnetic bearing has two permanent magnets 1, 3 which are moulded from powdered magnetic material (e.g. barium ferrite) and a plastic binder. Each magnet is circular and the magnets are assembled so as to face each other with like poles interacting so as to form an air gap 6 one of the magnets being secured to a rotating part 2 supported by the bearing and the other magnet being secured to a support 4. The side of the magnet remote from the air gap is provided with means (e.g. a bush) moulded integrally with the magnet for securing to the rotating part or the support. The magnets may be provided with a cover 29, 30 of plastics material. Radial misalignment of the magnets is prevented by a guiding needle 14 secured to the support of one magnet and which engages with a carbon bearing 16 housed in the other magnet. |
