PURPOSE:To facilitate insertion of the electron gun to the neck tube without a flared part by using a component having a cylindrical part which can be inserted into the neck tube without flared part and a part which is continuously formed from the cylindrical part and whose inner diameter increases gradually. CONSTITUTION:Inserted into a neck tube 1 is the cylindrical part 21 of a horn shaped component 23 having the cylindrical part which can be inserted into the end part of the neck tube 1 and also having a large diameter section which is continuously formed from the cylindrical section and whose inner diameter increases gradually. Then an electron gun 2 with elastic pieces 3 which is supported by a stem 4 is inserted from the large diameter section 22 of the component 23 to be set at the predetermined position in the neck tube 1. After the component 23 is removed from the tube 1, the stem 4 of the electron gun 2 is welded to the end part of the neck tube 1. According to such manufacturing method, the insertion of the electron gun 2 to the neck tube 1 can be carried out surely and easily without damaging the edge or inner surface of the neck tube 1 and so no glass dusts are generated. Thus the quality of the picture tube and its yield are improved. |
