The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for taking readings of gravity by an airborne vehicle, in which the airborne vehicle is stabilised as far as speed, trajectory direction and altitude are concerned, and in which is provided a gravity measuring device which possesses appropriate sensitivity and which produces signals which are recorded at a high sampling frequency on a magnetic tape, the position of the airborne vehicle being calculated by using a multiple-range navigation system which is geodisically localised. <IMAGE>
