PURPOSE:To improve the operability of sorting selection of a document creating device by utilizing the existing format setting function effectively, and specifying a field, record, key, etc., easily and speedily while looking at a document on the screen. CONSTITUTION:A field key setting part 13 reads a document out of an external storage device 16 and displays it on a display device 12, thereby performing setting and indication control over the range of sorting selection and record length on interactive basis with an operator. A format line 20 is displayed after key input for the indication control, and fields are set by using a tab key and a space key and are recognized; and setting information is stored in the common buffer in an internal memory. When a selection is made, a cursor is further set to recognize a character string as a key, and those pieces of information are passed to a record generation part 14. The generation part 14 reads a document in the objective range out of the external storage device 16 and develops the document into a line image to generate a record. |
