Method of renewing plastic stoppers

The method aims to renew plastic caps or stoppers by restoring the internal sealing lip or lips used to form the joints between them and the neck of a bottle. The stoppers are treated with a hot fluid (e.g. water at 65 - 98 DEG C for 1 to 5 minutes) and are then decontaminated by an electron flux giving a dose of 0.50 to 1 megarad. Application particularly to stoppers for bottles containing fizzy drinks.
