PURPOSE:To permit the printing output of upright letters and inclined letters without increasing memory capacity of a character generator by a method in which latter data to shown upright letter shape in the character generator are converted into letter data to shown the shape of inclined letters and housed in a dot buffer. CONSTITUTION:When a printing command signal is received from a host computer 5, the number and code of letters and the code of shape contained in the printing command signal are judged, and letter data designated by the letter code are read out of a character generator 15 in which each letter data of upright letter shape in ROM are stored. When letter data so read out are designated by upright letter housing means, the upright letter shape housed in the generator 15 is housed as such in a dot buffer 16. On the other hand, when inclined housing means is designated, upright letter shape housed in the generator 15 is converted into inclined letter shape and housed in the dot buffer 16. The printing output of these letters can be permitted only by designating shape code. |
