PURPOSE:To obtain a divalent silver oxide battery in which few internal short circuits are developed during preservation and which has no adverse effect on manufacturing efficiency by using a mixture prepared by adding silver oxide to amalgamated zinc powder as a negative agent. CONSTITUTION:Mixture prepared by adding silver oxide to amalgamated zinc powder is used as a negative agent. For example, 100pts. of amalgamated zinc powder is mixed with 1pt. of silver oxide to prepare a mixture in which silver oxide homogeneously adheres to the surfaces of the particles and the thus prepared mixture is used as a negative agent 7. After a positive agent 2 is placed in a positive can 1 in which a smaller part of the electrolyte is poured, a separator 3 and an electrolyte-absorbing body 4 are placed over the positive agent in that order. Also the negative agent 7 described above and the remaining part of the electrolyte is put in a negative can 6 to the periphery of which an annular gasket 5 is attached. After that, the positive can 1 is attached to the negative can 6 with an annular gasket 5 interposed to seal the battery, thereby constituting a divolent silver oxide battery. |
