The invention concerns a clutch release bearing comprising a bush 17 for which it is adapted to act in traction on the release device 13 of a clutch, a roller bearing 20 engaged on this bush 17, and, in order to retain the latter, a split ring 23 in engagement with this bush 17 on the roller bearing side 20 opposite the release device 13. According to the invention, the associated manoeuvring element 14 comprises, in readiness, a bearing surface 55, suitable for the temporary reception of the split ring 23, and, in combination, the flange 34 of this manoeuvring element 14 has at least one opening 56 able to give access from the outside to the said bearing surface 55.
