Process for improving the quality of crude oil which boils above 315 DEG C, characterised in that it comprises bringing the crude oil which boils above 315 DEG C into contact with a catalyst comprising crystalline zeolite which is ultrastable up to approximately 80 % by weight in the case of an elevated conversion temperature of the catalyst of at least 510 DEG C and for a period which makes it possible to obtain high output ratios of the products situated in the gasoline boiling range and to recover the said products situated in the gasoline boiling range.
