PURPOSE:To prevent regenerative deterioration caused by reading light, in a heat mode optical recording medium, by forming a recording layer from a composition of a specific polymethine dye in which a quencher is contained. CONSTITUTION:One or more of a polymethine dye represented by formula [wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkoxy group or a substituted or unsabstituted amino group, A-C are a phenyl group or an alkyl group, X<-> is an anion and (n) is 1 or 2] and a quencher, for example, a transition metal compound are contained in the recording layer of an optical recording medium. By this method, the regenerative deterioration of S/N caused by the repeated irradiation of reading light is reduced and the light fastness of said recording medium during preservation in a light room is enhanced. |
