The invention relates to an apparatus for detaching labels from a backing tape moved in advance by changing the direction of the backing tape at a pin which is mounted so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis. To make it possible to use as thin a pin as possible and yet to avoid bending of the pin due to the tensile forces imposed by the backing tape, provision is made for rotatable supporting of the pin in a bearing box on one side of its peripheral surface, the width of which bearing box is smaller than the diameter of the pin, and for deflection of the backing tape on the side of the pin facing away from the bearing box.
