The invention relates to a coke-quenching car with a coke container which is located on a low-loader and which has a container bottom consisting of grating bars and inclined under about 27 DEG , and an outlet opening for quenched coke, which is located at the lowest part in the container wall and can be closed by a flap, which can be hydraulically swivelled and put on to make a seal, and which is provided with water inlets and outlets for the quenching water. To provide a coke-quenching car which is designed in such a way that quenching by immersion and by spraying of water is possible, it being ensured that the water used for immersion can emerge suddenly from the container and, furthermore, wear of the coke container due to the thermal stresses is reduced, it is proposed that the coke container (1) is formed with double walls at the walls (2) and at the bottom (3) and consists of outer walls, frame segments arranged thereon and wearing plates (4) which are suspended thereon and are movable relative to one another, the wearing plates being arranged in the bottom region in the sliding direction of the coke with play relative to one another, that the coke inlet opening (5) can be closed by a grating (7) which can, after the flap (6) has been opened, be hydraulically actuated independently of the latter, and that the quenching water inlets lead into the double-walled bottom (3) of the container (1). <IMAGE>
