Method for transmitting speech and information signals

A method is proposed for transmitting speech and information signals. Based on a method in which an information signal band is inserted in the speech signal band, the invention serves to prevent the frequency gap which is created by removing the information signal band from the speech signal from impairing speech quality. This effect is achieved according to the invention by separating the speech signal band ( DELTA fS) and the information signal band ( DELTA fI) in the receiver (11). A specific band range ( DELTA fU) is filtered out from the speech signal band. The band range is selected in such a way that its harmonic band ( DELTA fO) fits into the sub-band ( DELTA fT) which is removed at the transmitting end and in which the information signal band is located during transmission. At the receiving end, the harmonic band takes the place of the sub-band. As a result, the gap created by the removal of the sub-band from the speech signal band is filled with speech frequencies in such a way that no audible interference can be perceived. <IMAGE>
