Closing device for the exhaust system of an internal-combustion engine

A closing device for the exhaust system of the internal-combustion engine of a submersible or amphibious vehicle has in the exhaust duct of the exhaust system a spring-loaded closing flap, by which the exhaust duct can be closed automatically when the exhaust pressure subsides and the internal-combustion engine is switched off. Upstream of the closure flap in the exhaust duct there is a drainage orifice which opens out into an engine space and through which leakage water getting in through the closure flap in the submerged state can be led away out of the exhaust duct. In order to prevent the engine space being subjected constantly to exhaust gas during normal operation and to ensure that, when starting, the exhaust gas can expand without any great restricting effect via the drainage orifice into the engine space, the drainage orifice can be closed by a positively controlled drainage flap.
