A processing machine for webs of material, especially webs of film, with a guide spanning the width of the machine and with single carriages which can be moved by means of sliding blocks along guide rails arranged on the guide and can be clamped fast for reception of single processing stations such as cutting stations, pressure rollers, winding-up apparatus and the like. The technical problem resides in the reduction of converting times for adjustment of the single carriages on a guide of the above type. Each guide rail (4) or the sliding blocks (7) contain electromagnets, which, when excited, bring about a fixed voltage between the guide rail and the single carriage. <IMAGE>
