Wide meshed net made of polypropylene and/or polyethylene is filled with loosely packed absorbent fibres of various materials kept apart by talc, diatomite or perlite. The fibres are treated to increase their oil-absorbent capacity. Once saturated the roll is easily handled without loss of oil and is either burnt or passed between rollers to remove the oil before reuse.
