Process for reducing the formation of calcium-containing agglomerates in the hydrogenation of calcium-containing coal

In the hydrogenation of calcium-containing coal, at least a part of the hot-separator sludge is recycled and added to the coal which is to be hydrogenated. As a result of this measure, the formation of calcium-containing agglomerates during the hydrogenation process is prevented or else at least greatly reduced.
