In order to operate power units operating in cogeneration of power and heat and in which steam is extracted from the turbine for heating purposes, generally at the input of the low-pressure section, it is necessary to measure the heating capacity in order to control the steam generator. It is known for this purpose to measure the heated quantity of water and its feed and return temperatures, and to calculate the heating capacity therefrom. The invention circumvents this complicated approach by forming the difference between the measured values for the pressure at the input of the first turbine stage and for the capacity, which measured values are present in any case in most power units, as a measure of the heating capacity (SUB5) and adding this difference to the desired value for the steam generator (DPE). <IMAGE>
