On a knitting needle bar (4) with a reciprocating motion there is arranged a series of knitting needles (2). To insert the warp ends (26) into the knitting needles (2) there are provided setting needles (22) which are secured to a bar (24). To ensure a good accessibility to the knitting location, the knitting needles (2) are arranged in a plane (I) which forms with respect to the horizontal (H) an angle alpha which varies between 20<o> and 40<o>, preferably equal to 30<o>: this plane is inclined rearwardly. The knitting band (73) is evacuated by a knitting guide (76) arranged perpendicularly to the plane (I) of the knitting needles. |
