PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid-crystal display device which allows variation in visual angle and has high visibility by adding a transparent electrode between >=2 polarizing plates and forming a transparent substrate, and providing a polarization axis rotating device for at least one polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:The polarizing plate 2 on the top side of a TN type liquid-crystal panel 1 is made rotatable and the other polarizing plate 3 is fixed. When a constant voltage is applied between the electrodes, the visual angle shifts in the perpendicular direction 5 by rotating the polarizing plate 2 in the counterclockwise direction 4 and in the horizontal direction 7 by rotating it in the clockwise direction 6. Namely, liquid-crystal molecules in the TN type liquid-crystal panel are oriented at a slight angle 9 in a substrate interface. When the voltage is applied between the electrodes, they are oriented almost at right angles to the substrate. The visual angle direction in this case is as shown by an arrow 10. |
