The device uses a horizontal conveyor to convey glass used in double glazing in an approximately vertical position, which horizontal conveyor consists of two synchronously driven endless conveying elements 5 and 15. One of the conveying elements 5 supports at regular intervals bearings which partially grip from below one lower edge of the pane of glass 1 used in double glazing. The two conveying elements 5 and 15 support pressure jaws 8 and 18, respectively, which clamp the pane of glass used in double glazing between them near its lower edge 9. During transport, the pane of glass 1 used in double glazing is supported against a supporting device 2 which is fixed to the stand and is inclined slightly backwards. <IMAGE>
