A problem besetting the production of fluid/air mixtures, especially in the carburation of fuels, is that the liquid droplets coalesce in a mist phase of this type and readily deposit on the pipeline walls. According to the invention, the air of said mixture is electrostatically charged. The air molecules ionised in this way act on the liquid droplets and likewise charge them up electrostatically. The inside pipe walls are also charged up electrostatically, in particular with the same polarisation as the air molecules. As a result, the charged liquid droplets repel one another and are also repelled by the pipe walls. The deposition of liquid components from the mist phase is consequently substantially suppressed.
