PURPOSE:To judge simply and in a short time whether a corrosion due to electric current flow is caused or not to beryllium at a raw material stage by dipping a beryllium sample and a resistor in a closed circuit in water, impressing a specified voltage thereto, and after the lapse of a prescribed hr, either by observing a surface of the beryllium sample or measuring a weight variation thereof to judge the corrosion resistance. CONSTITUTION:A beryllium sample 7 and a resistor 8 in a closed circuit are dipped in water, and voltage is impressed to heat warm water by the heat generation of the resistor 8. After the lapse of a prescribed hr, the beryllium sample surface is observed or the weight variation is measured to judge the corrosion resistance in a sample step, and the suitability is judged before the processing and incorporating to an apparatus. As a voltage impressed to the closed circuit, 10-1,000V and >=20min are preferable. The reasons are as follows. In case of <10V, the corrosion is hardly caused even in beryllium corroding due to electric current flow, and the accurate judgement is difficult in a practical use in case of incorporating to a simulating fuel assembly. If high voltage exceeding 1,000V is impressed, the corrosion due to electric current flow is accerelated rapidly and stepwise judgement of degree of the susceptibility becomes difficult. |
