This heat exchanger has a housing 1 and tubes 2, which extend in the housing and in which a first fluid is guided. The ends of the tubes are combined in tubular collecting spaces 4, 5 which are provided, in turn, with feed and discharge devices 6, 7 for the first fluid. The feed and discharge devices 6, 7 are arranged at the same end of the housing 1, while the collecting spaces 4, 5 are provided at the ends of the housing situated opposite one another. The heat exchanger is preferably used as a high-pressure feed water preheater. <IMAGE>
