PURPOSE:To constitute a large or complicate-shape scintillator which can not be made of one conventional deliquescent scintillator crystal by covering airtightly the deliquescent scintillator crystal with light-transmissive plastic film and thus constituting the scintillator. CONSTITUTION:The deliquescent scintillator crystal 2 of NaI formed in, for example, a cubic shaped is covered with the bag body made of the flexible transparent plastic film 6, and the opening part of the bag is sealed while the bag body is evacuated to bring the transparent plastic film 6 into sufficient contact with the outer circumferential surface of the scintillator crystal 2. When gamma rays are incident from below in a figure, outputs of scintillation light are led out of at least three surfaces A, B, and C. For the purpose, a material having the same refractive index as the scintillator crystal is selected for the material of transparent plastic film 6 to constitute a large-area scintillator similar to a scintillator formed of one large scintillator crystal. |
