PURPOSE:To joint a rear upper panel of the vehicle body of an automobile to a side body, by providing such an arrangement that the rear upper panel is tilted toward the front end side of the main floor prior to the jointing of the side body, and the rear upper panel is pulled back to its normal position after the jointing of the side body. CONSTITUTION:In an assembling device for the vehicle body of an automobile, a rotating jig 51 presses a rear upper panel 1, and tilts it toward the front end side of a main floor 3 about the joint section O between the rear upper panel 1 and the main floor 3 as a fulcrum. When the panel is tilted to a prdetermined angle, a motor is stopped. Then a side body fixture joints a side body to the main floor 3. After this jointing the panel 1 which has been tilted is pulled back to its normal position where the panel 1 abuts against the side body from the inside of the vehicle body, and then is welded to the side body by means of a welding gun. |
