PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium capable of writing and reading from the back side of a base and improved in reproduction deterioration, by a method wherein an oxoindolizine coloring matter or the like is used in a recording layer, and a quencher is incorporated in the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer comprising an oxoindolizine coloring matter or oxoindolizinium coloring matter of formula I or II, wherein each of R1 and R2 is an alkyl group, an aryl group or an additive indoline group, an indolizinium group or the like, R2 is a bivalent group forming an organic chromophore with an indolizinone group, R4 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cyano group or the like, R5 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or the like, and X<-> is a known anion, and a quencher consisting of a transition metal chelated compound based on acetylacetonato or the like, optionally with a resin such as a autoxidizing or thermoplastic resin, is provided on a transparent base without providing any reflective layer, to obtain the optical recording medium. |
