<p>A mould with moving plugs in the top and/or bottom of each mould cavity has the plugs mounted on wedge shaped plates which reciprocate due to complementary wedge plates moving at right angles to the expansion axis. Melt is injected into an undersize cavity and the plugs are subsequently allowed to retract until the cavity is full size under conditions which allow the initial shot to expand. Reduced cycle times are obtained cf. compression moulding.</p> |
