PURPOSE:To enable easy formation of a developer carrying body which has a desired edge effect and with which high image quality is obtainable by subjecting a workpiece to external working while supporting the workpiece with the same centering jig in different stages. CONSTITUTION:An electrode layer 2 on which a dielectric layer 4 and conductive particles are held electrically isolatedly from each other is formed on the circumferential surface of a cylindrical conductive base 1. Centering jigs 5 are pressfitted to both ends of the base 1 in this state and the base is subjected to external working after formation of the layer 4. An adhesive agent such as, for example, acryl, urethane is coated on the surface of the layer 4 while the jigs 5 are held press-fitted to the base 1. The conductive electrode partiles 2a are sprayed before the adhesive agent cures to stick uniformly the electrode particles 2a. The tips of supports T are then fitted to the fitting parts 5a of the same jigs 5 in the same way as in the state of the 1st external working and the base is subjected to the 2nd external working, by which the surface is smoothly finished and the particles 2 are exposed to the surface. The working axis set in the state of the 1st external working and the working axis in the stage of the 2nd external working are thus made apprxoimately coincident with each other. |
