PURPOSE:To reliably fire a thyristor by firing the thyristor by continuously applying a trigger pulse until a load current of the thyristor exceeds a latching current. CONSTITUTION:A DC shunt motor 12 is connected as an inductive load at a thyristor 10. A thyristor trigger circuit has a current detector 22 for detecting a load current of the thyristor 10, a reference signal output circuit 24 for outputting a signal corresponding to a latching current of the thyristor 10, compares by a comparator 20 the outputs of the detector 22 and the circuit 24, and outputs a pulse generator 25 by the prescribed detection signal from the comparator 20 when the load current exceeds the latching current. A pulse generator 26 applies a trigger pulse 100 for firing the thyristor to the gate of the thyristor 10 so that the application of the trigger pulse 10 is continued until the detection signal showing that the load current exceeds the latching current is inputted. |
