PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately detect a hardly detectable ion seed, in an electrochemical detector equipped with an acting electrode, a reference electrode and an auxiliary electrode, by using an ion exchange membrane tube in the liquid communication part of the reference electrode. CONSTITUTION:The liquid communication part 11 of a reference electrode 12 is constituted of an ion exchange membrane tube and the eluted liquid from a separation column 1 flows through a route comprising Teflon pipe 2 passage 4 in block 3 auxiliary electrode 10 in Teflon pipe 2' liquid communication part 11 discharge flowline 7. The liquid in the liquid communication part 11 is contacted with the internal liquid through the wall of the liquid communication part 1. When the reference electrode 12 is held to reference potential and constant voltage is applied to the acting electrode 14, a measuring current corresponding to the concn. of the ion seed to be measured in the eluted liquid flows between the electrodes 14, 10. By this method, a hardly detectable ion seed can be accurately detected. |
